The Harbour View in Portslade, Sussex was the scene of an amazing sequence of cards last night.
The tournament was down to the last six players. Carlie Babe McKenna raised under the gun to twice the BB to 4k, Andy Wells folded, The Vulture folded, Jamie Pretty Boy Loudon went all in with 6k chips, Jason The Hat Southon in the deal folded and SB Rob Scott, chip leader went all in with about 30k chips. After much hesitation (due to Rob's persistent chip bullying) Carlie folded and then the cards were shown.
Loudon revealed a pair of sevens (7D and 7S) and Rob a pair of tens (TC and TH). To make matters worse for Loudon. The flop came 10D, 10S and 8D (giving Scott quads). The turn was a Jack of diamonds giving Loudon a small chance of a straight flush as his 7D was connecting with 8D, TD and JD. Of the 38 cards left in the pack, one card, a 2.63% chance, the 9D needed to river. You've guessed it, it did!
Further irony of this turn of events was that Carlie, who did the intitial raise, annouced that her folded pocket pair was also sevens!
Loudon went onto win the tournament after a half hour heads up with Scott who did an efficient job of dispatching most of the rest of the field.
Jamie was relieved for his win. He is now in a great position now to qualify for The Sussex Pub Poker Masters on November 6.
