Sam's the man walking tall

Fifty six TWPC players competed in an online tournament for a place in the Aussie Millions this Sunday. The ten minute blind/2,000 starting chip format game lasted about three and a half hours and culminated in Sam Talman who plays at The Crown in Bishops Waltham Hampshire winning the £8,880 package supplied by 888. Sam went to the top table as chip leader but by the time of the heads up, with Gordon 8Man Davey of The Albion Portslade, Sussex, he was behind by about 20%. Gordon lived up to his 8man name with the magic number proving significant at several stages in the tournament, including a big win with pocket 8s and an 8 on the river to escape elimination. Sam chipped away at Gordon's stack and the final move was 8man moving all in with A7 being called with Sam's pair of fives. That same evening, Grant Queen Lean of The Albion won $1,700 in another Aussie Millions entry on 888 by coming third in a 40 man tournament and Gordon 8man Davey $1,000 for coming 4th. Both had qualified through winning ring game tournaments at the October Finals at Brighton Racecourse.
